5 Things I Consider Before Getting Invisible Braces

· Orthodontic Clinic,Braces,Singapore

As the world transitions from physical to digital, teachers face cameras for the virtual class every day. In my case, I don’t like seeing my face in front of a Zoom or Google Meet camera because my teeth look uneven and my nose looks flat.

It has affected my confidence when teaching my students because I am not comfortable showing my face. However, as a teacher, I always try to stay upbeat even if I’m feeling conscious about my face.

Study shows that Zoom changes the way we look because of camera quality, lighting and facial features. With this, I know that it would take longer before everything goes back to normal. So I decided to get invisible braces in Singapore. However, it took me months before going to a clinic. Here are the things I considered for my invisible aligners or braces in Singapore.

Things I Consider Before Getting Braces

I know that I’m a little bit late in getting braces. I am now 27 years old, and most people got their braces when they were teenagers. So, it was a more meticulous decision-making process. Moreover, I came up with this list that shows the things I considered before having my invisible braces. It will also apply to those people who want to get Invisalign aligners or invisible braces in Singapore.

1. Bring Some Lip Balms

During the application process, my lips turned dry because I had to open my mouth. Plus, the procedure can take hours, so there was no way I could moisturise my lips. Luckily, my friend advised me to bring some lip balms to moisten my lips during the session. Indeed, when the dentist applied invisible braces, I told her to put a lip balm on my lips from time to time to avoid discomfort.

2. It Will Feel Uncomfortable for First Few Days

My dentist told me that it would feel uncomfortable for the first few days because my mouth was uncomfortable with the new object. Although invisible braces or Invisalign aligners are more comfortable than traditional braces, they could also take days to adjust. However, my doctor told me that it would all be worth it! It is because, after a few days, I wouldn’t mind the invisible braces in my mouth.

It is indeed uncomfortable for the first few days. After getting my braces, it was harder to speak in front of my students because I was conscious of the braces. Fortunately, it was invisible, so my students didn’t notice it. One of my students even asked me if I was okay because my voice sounds different.

Fast forward to one week, the uncomfortability was slowly fading away. I could even get back to my usual routine.

3. It Needs Good Hygiene

It is essential to maintain proper hygiene when wearing Invisalign aligners, invisible braces or invisible aligners because the food can damage the teeth. My dentist told me to brush my teeth after a meal. Also, I should consider rinsing my mouth to prevent bacteria and other cavities.

On top of this, my dentist told me to clean my invisible braces after waking up. Otherwise, bacteria will build on the braces. Hence, I also made sure to use toothpaste that is effective for cleaning the braces.

I also made sure to use a soft-bristled toothbrush to clean my teeth and invisible braces. This way, I won’t damage my teeth and the invisible braces.

4. Wear for 17-22 Hours a Day

Most people thought that they could wear invisible braces whenever they wanted. However, my dentist told me that it takes determination, full-time commitment and patience to get the best results.

It is advisable to wear the invisible braces,  Invisalign brace or invisible aligners for 17 hours. I could only take them out when flossing, brushing or eating. But for maximum effect, my dentist recommended that I wear it for almost 22 hours a day.

Yes, I wore it even when I was teaching my students. See, it took dedication for me to achieve a better smile in front of my students.

5. Braces Cost

Traditional or invisible braces are all expensive in Singapore.  As I saved money for my braces, I decided to go for an effective brace option, the invisible braces.

There are also other options, and the cost may vary depending on personal circumstances. Invisalign cost may differ from invisible braces cost in Singapore. So, I asked my dentist for a better recommendation before getting invisible braces.

In conclusion, invisible braces are an alternative to traditional braces. On top of this, it is easy to maintain and an effective one. Also, it promises to be more convenient. Hearing all of these made me call MyBracesClinic in Singapore! Now, I am more confident to face my students during a virtual class.
