Electricity isn’t just a luxury in the 21st century; it’s a need. We need electricity to do basic tasks like showering, travelling, cooking, and more. Living in Singapore, a highly urbanised country, you certainly use electricity every day to provide for your daily needs.

But with rising costs of living, the price of electricity hasn’t gone down either. You shouldn’t choose electricity supplier lightly. The various plans and providers that are available in Singapore should mean that you will be able to find the best power provider in Singapore for your needs.

Are you planning to make the switch? Great! But not so fast. There are things that you should know and check first before you switch electricity providers. Here are a few of them.

1. The terms of your contract with the previous supplier. Hope you’ve read through your previous plan thoroughly because there might be a lock-in period or other surprises awaiting you before you can make the switch. Check your contract after every period to see what changes they have made, too. You never know, it might have become more advantageous to you.

2. Beware of hidden fees or terms. Before signing up with a new electricity provider in Singapore, have you ensured that your choice of a new electricity supplier is final? You have a few business days after signing the contract to back out. After that, it might become more challenging to change your mind.

3. Are you prepared for the switch? Finally, ask yourself if you want to make the switch to your new supplier. Have you researched your new provider and if they are as or much more reliable than your old one?
